Breckenridge Music Festival hosts gala July 31
Join the fun at the Breckenridge Music Festival Gold Rush Gala on July 31 at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge.
In keeping with the 150th anniversary of the Town of Breckenridge, attire is “miner’s finery, boots optional.” Mining artifacts will decorate the ballroom, and a historic film of the mining era will play on a movie screen during the evening.
Following dinner, dance to the popular Denver band “Heartbeat.” Proceeds from the evening’s silent and live auctions support the Breckenridge Music Festival (BMF) concerts and educational programs throughout the year.

Imagination Express starts Tuesday with ‘Peter and the Wolf’
The sixth season of children’s programming at Breckenridge’s Riverwalk Center begins Tuesday with a new name — Imagination Express — and a host of family activities throughout the summer. Programs will be held every Tuesday through Aug. 11, alternating between afternoon shows at 2 p.m. and evening performances at 6:30 p.m., and run for approximately one hour each.
First up, the National Repertory Orchestra presents a special narration and classical performance of “Peter and the Wolf” from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday. After the performance, kids get a chance to meet the instruments and the musicians.
The summer’s offerings also include masks, storytelling and more by Michael Cooper; Salida Circus and the Lost Mermaid, a play where the audience is invited (and encouraged) to participate; drumming with Peak Rhythms; a return visit from the Raptor Education Fund and Birds of Prey; the award-winning Banana Slugs String Band; Garry Krinsky: Toying with Science; and a special performance of “Babe the Sheep Pig” by the Backstage Theatre.
General admission to Imagination Express shows are $5 per person and may be purchased at the Riverwalk Center Box Office, 150 W. Breckenridge Fun Park opens today
Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Peak 8 Fun Park opens today, with the return of the alpine SuperSlide. Ride the slalom courses, or for the more experienced rider, try the giant slalom track with multiple dips.
Other features include chairlift rides, Colorado’s largest human maze, a climbing wall, sky-fly power trampoline, a bounce house, gem stone panning and Spin Cycle, which straps people in and twists them about.
The Fun Park, located at the base of Peak 8, will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (weather permitting). Due to ongoing construction, no visitor parking will be available at the Peak 8 base. Free buses will run continually during park hours for easy transport to and from the gondola parking lots.
Bergenhof’s Alpine BBQ will be open for lunch, along with Breckenridge Ski Resort’s newest sit-down restaurant Sevens, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for both lunch and dinner (closed on Tuesday and Wednesday). Visit www.breckenridge.com for more information.
Copper’s summer fun starts today
Copper Mountain opens today for summer activities.
Celebrate opening weekend with free live music by MooseKnuckle and Mystery Achievement, activities, specials and promotions. Copper offers summer guests an array of special events, live music, golf, cycling, activities, Woodward at Copper and many more adventures in an intimate resort setting. Fridays at Copper start July 3 with free live music and movies under the stars, in addition to free activities all day.
The Summer Lift Off weekend will feature live music by MooseKnuckle and Mystery Achievement from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Alpinista Mountain Bistro. Formed in the fall of 2006, MooseKnuckle carries on the tradition of improvised eclectic rock. Mystery Achievement is British Columbia’s newest Pretenders tribute band.
Fridays at Copper (FAC) summer celebrations begin July 3, including free activities for guests who spend at least $30 at any Copper shopping or dining location, including a one-time pass for the climbing wall, bumper boats, quad power jump, go-karts and mini-golf. Just present $30 worth of receipts to Guest Services at the Mountain Adventure Center and get out there and play.
Evenings in the Village begin with free live music from 6-8 p.m. during the Friday Night Street Parties. The concerts will feature local and regional music acts throughout the summer, including Rojos Calientes, Lipbone Redding and the Lipbone Orchestra, and Angie Stevens & the Beautiful Wreck.
When the music stops, the stars come out and families and friends enjoy a free movie under the stars in the Burning Stones Outdoor Theater, but it can get chilly, so bring a cozy blanket. The summer lineup includes screenings of: “The Golden Compass” (PG-13), “Evan Almighty” (PG) and “Pirates of the Caribbean at World’s End” (PG-13).
